This year’s one and only big mountain comp in Austria is a FWQ (Freeride World Qualifier) allowing world tour athletes and amateurs to win points for the freeride world ranking. I was there with a group of crazy New Zealand/ Canadian/ French/ Austrian friends and had a great time skiing, eating, going out and competing! I came 6th overall, only missing out on 4th place by 0.5 points. The women’s competition was won by Janette Hargin, Swedish former FIS Alpine skiing competitor, followed by Stina Jakobsson (SWE) and Janina Kuzma (NZL).The women’s starting field was very strong which is great to see and important for women’s Big Mountain sport in general. Next FWQ stop: Freeride de Chamonix! Stay tuned!
